Plantar Fasciitis
Please tell us before your visit or order

If you are diabetic, have any allergies, or have any other medical condition, please inform our team before your treatment or before using any product. This helps us keep you safe and recommend the right care for you.

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain we treat at Roshan's Foot Care. It occurs when the plantar fascia — the thick band of tissue running along the bottom of the foot from heel to toes — becomes inflamed or strained, usually from repetitive stress, poor arch support, or sudden increases in standing or walking.

The classic symptom

Most patients describe a sharp, stabbing pain in the heel with the very first steps in the morning, which eases somewhat after a few minutes of walking but can return after long periods of standing or at the end of the day. This pattern is so distinctive that it's often enough on its own for an experienced podiatrist to recognise the condition.

Who is most at risk in Pakistan

People who stand for long hours — shopkeepers, teachers, tailors, household staff, security guards; people with flat feet or very high arches; those who walk long distances in flat, unsupportive chappal or sandals; people who have recently gained weight; and anyone whose footwear does not properly support the arch.

Our treatment approach

Assessment of foot type, arch, and gait to understand the root cause; guidance on stretching exercises for the plantar fascia and calf; recommendation of supportive, cushioned footwear; and where appropriate, custom orthotic insoles designed specifically for your foot shape and pressure pattern (see our Custom Orthotics service). For most patients, a combination of the right insole support and stretching brings significant relief within a few weeks.

When to see us

If heel pain has lasted more than a week or two, is affecting your ability to walk comfortably, or keeps returning, don't wait for it to become chronic. Early treatment is far more effective than treating long-standing plantar fasciitis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my heel hurt most with my first steps in the morning?

That specific pattern - sharp heel pain with the very first steps after rest - is the classic sign of plantar fasciitis, inflammation of the tissue band along the sole of the foot.

How is plantar fasciitis treated without surgery?

Treatment usually combines targeted stretching, supportive or custom orthotic insoles, footwear advice, and reducing the strain that caused it - most patients improve without surgery.

How long does plantar fasciitis take to heal?

With consistent treatment, most patients see meaningful improvement within a few weeks to a few months, though this varies by severity and how long it was left untreated.
